Our Story

Winnipeg Equine Centre is built on a simple belief: horses and humans thrive in environments that are calm, consistent, and thoughtfully managed. We blend professional standards with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere so riders, boarders, and horses feel supported every day.

Our programs and daily routines are designed with intention. From feeding schedules and turnout groups to riding lessons and pony parties, every detail is chosen to support horse welfare, rider confidence, and clear communication. We want families, new riders, and experienced horse people to feel at home the moment they arrive.

BARN MANAGER
Geroge B.

Lahra brings years of experience to WEC, with a background spanning the hunter/jumper world, professional racing barns, structured breeding programs, and equine veterinary support.

She’s also spent years owning and caring for horses of all shapes and sizes—from small ponies to drafts, and, of course, her favourite Thoroughbreds. The spicier the horse, the better, in Lahra’s eyes!

RIDING COACH
Caleigh H.

George has spent his whole life in agriculture, from growing up on a cattle farm to now living on a hobby farm with his wife, Lahra, where they share a passion and love for animals.

Combined with over 50 years of experience as a mechanic, George is the man for the job! You’ll find him repairing fences, updating arenas, fixing odds and ends around the barn, and, of course, cracking his famous “dad jokes” along the way.

Alysa is one of our amazing Intro to Riding coaches here at the barn. With 14 years of riding experience and 10 years in the show ring, she brings her love of horses and riding to every lesson, helping riders build confidence, learn the fundamentals, and develop their skills.

You’ll often see Alysa and her horse, Cotey, at the barn, so be sure to say hi the next time you see them!

RIDING COACH

Meet Caleigh! Caleigh is one of our riding coaches here at the barn, bringing 12 years of riding experience and 6 years of coaching experience to her lessons. She enjoys helping beginner to intermediate riders build confidence and develop their skills.

Caleigh has experience teaching the basics of jumping and preparing students to progress up to 2’0”! She has also spent several summers coaching riding camps since 2019, bringing plenty of experience, patience, and enthusiasm to every lesson!

RIDING COACH

“A barn is built on more than four walls and a roof — it’s built by the people who care for every horse, support every rider, and make this place feel like home.”
